Lomon makes women's clothing in three registers: casual tops, tunics and a dress for daily wear; rain jackets, sun shirts and athletic tops for the outdoors; and cotton gingham, chiffon and skorts for beach days and lounging. The twenty-nine pieces in this catalogue are the range as sold in the United States.

It is not a single-fabric brand. Each register has its own materials, and the useful thing the pieces share is how much they tell you: blends, sizing notes and care, printed where you can read them.

Three registers, three sets of fabrics

The casual pieces are light knits and wovens: a pleated top in 60% polyester, 35% cotton and 5% spandex, a swing tunic in 60% polyester, 35% rayon and 5% spandex, chiffon on the Hawaiian shirt, and a double-layer mesh over lining on the mini dress. The beach pieces are cotton, gingham boxer shorts and pants, and a linen-rayon blend on the palazzo pants.

The outdoor pieces are performance blends: nylon-spandex on the golf polo and the barrel pants, polyester-spandex with a brushed interior on the cold-weather quarter-zip, UPF 50+ fabric on the sun shirt and rash guard, and waterproof polyester shells with cotton or plaid linings on the three rain jackets.

Reading the Lomon sizing notes

The pieces that run off standard say so. The low-rise micro-mini skort is cut short and tight and asks for one size up; the floral bell-sleeve tunic suggests a size up for a looser look; the swing tunic is generous and suggests sizing down when between sizes; the brushed quarter-zip is slim and suggests the larger size. Everything else points to a size chart in the product images.

Care is almost uniform: cold water, hand or gentle machine wash, hang or line dry, no bleach. The exceptions are the mini dress, which wants a wash bag and flat drying, the linen pants, which take a steam iron, and the rain jackets, which must never be ironed.

Choosing by the week ahead

Heat and water point to the beach register: linen pants, gingham shorts, the chiffon shirt and a UPF 50+ layer. Rain points to one of three jackets, chosen by lining and weight. Court sports point to the tennis skort and golf polo; cold runs to the brushed quarter-zip; the office to the barrel pants and a three-quarter sleeve top.

Within a register, pick by cut first and color second. A blouse with ruffle cuffs and a smocked babydoll do different jobs even in the same print, and a high-waisted skort and a low-rise one sit differently on the same person. The catalogue is organized so those differences are visible on the card before the swatch is.
